Lauren Daigle

Lauren Daigle is a spiritual and stunning Christian singer that was able to crossover into secular pop achieving two Grammys.  Her third album, Look Up Child, gave her that success and is a must have in a music collection.  There are songs such as “You Say” and “Love Like This” that are wonderful, written beautifully and sung with such yearning.  When I first heard them I did not know she was a Christian singer.

Lauren is only 27 years old and was born in Louisiana.  “You Say” debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming one of the highest charting Christian Album by a woman in 20 years.  This album also became number 1 on the Christian Albums chart.

Interestingly enough, Daigle contracted infectious mononucleosis and was kept out of school for nearly two years.  She attended a charter school and completed a year and a half of class work in six months.  After taking a year off from school, she went to Brazil to do mission work. After that, she attended Louisiana State University for Child and Family Studies.

Daigle was a choir singer at LSU.  She tried out for American Idol in 2010 and 2012 but did not make it both times.  American Idol was blind to great talent in that case.

Altogether, Lauren Daigle has three albums How Can It Be, released in 2015, Behold A Christmas Collection, released in 2016 and Look Up Child, released in 2018.  Of the three I am only familiar with Look Up Child which is an excellent addition to any music collection.

My favorite songs are “You Say and  “Love Like This”.  The lyrics to “Love Like This” start off as:

“When I am a wasteland, You are the water, When I am the winter, You are the fire that burns. When I am a long night, You are the sunrise, When I am a desert, You are the river that turn to find me.”

The beautiful lyrics and heart-felt singing from Lauren is to be complimented.  I am eagerly awaiting her next album.
